Two issues of the magazine were published this past quarter. The January/February 2010 issue featured the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympic Winter Games, and the March/April issue featured articles about the 75th anniversary of Nevada’s state-parks system and the Pony Express sesquicentennial. We are currently wrapping up production of the May/June issue, which will feature military operations in Nevada and wildflower viewing. The magazine is now available at newsstands at all the Scolari’s and Sak ´N Save grocery stores in Nevada.
We recently implemented a new subscription service. Nevada enthusiasts can visit the nevadamagazine.com homepage and click on the Subscribe link to purchase a one-year, six-issue subscription for $19.95.
In addition to the magazine, annually we produce the Nevada Historical Calendar, and we’re pleased to report that the 2010 calendars sold out! We have already started work on the 2011 calendar and are taking advance orders for personalized calendars. The calendars make great thank-you gifts for business customers and employees. If you would like a price list, please e-mail Publisher Janet M. Geary at jmgeary@nevadamagazine.com.
We are also working on concepts for our special 75th Anniversary Edition, which we plan to publish in January 2011. It will be 192 pages and contain our best stories from the past eight decades. If you’d like to reserve a copy, please e-mail Geary at jmgeary@nevadamagazine.com for more information.
Finally, you can find out what’s new at the magazine by listening to a radio interview, which aired in January on KUNR, featuring Editor Matthew B. Brown. Listen here.
On a personal note, Brown and his wife, Tiffany, welcomed their first child on March 30, 2010. Congratulations to the Brown family on the birth of Nolan Anthony!
